SRDI Trainingin
SRDI specializes in training scent-detection K9s. We use only positive, science-based training methods. We assist our handlers in learning and in using force-free motivational methods. SRDI candidate member training may take up to one year or more. Candidate members are required to complete specific formal outdoor medical training, CPR, NIMS/ICS coursework, State mandated training, and additional field skills and K9 skills to achieve mission-ready response status. Initial K9 training may take 12 to 18 months to instill solid K9 foundational skills and prepare a dog for certification evaluation and mission-ready response status. K9 training is continuous in order to maintain the high level of proficiency required to support law enforcement Search and Rescue activities. SRDI travels state wide, regionally and nationally to advance our knowledge and understanding of current science-based training methodology. SRDI invites experienced instructors to Tucson to share knowledge with K9 SAR Teams that support Arizona law enforcement. |
